The Rickshaw Run!

Packyourbags has proudly sponsored Jonathan Fox and Simon Lamble in their 2009 Rickshaw Run!
On 1st January 2009, they are setting off from Pondicherry in the south of India on a trip that will take 2 weeks. 4000km later they’ll arrive in Shillong in the state of Meghalaya, in the north east of India. The challenges of such an arduous trip are going to be exacerbated by their chosen method of transport – a 150cc motorised rickshaw!

Obviously, this is being undertaken in the name of charity. Jonathan and Simon are raising money for Frank Water, who work across India to provide clean water, and Mercy Corps, who run projects to help those with dire health and economic needs. Also, while they’re on the trip, they’ll be stopping along the route to distribute materials and provide education to young people across the country in support of the Safepoint Trust. Safepoint Trust is an organisation committed to educating people across India, ensuring the 40+ billion medical injections given each year are done so safely.
Packyourbags.com and the Packyourbags Travel Store are proud to sponsor Jonathan and Simon, and will also be providing them with much needed equipment such as mosquito repellent and hydration packs to test out on the trip.
Check Talk On Travel in the New Year for an update on the Rickshaw Run, and what the intrepid travellers thought of the equipment, and of India!
