Life’s a beach, so make it a good one!

Tweeky on the beachThat’s me on the beach. It’s a private beach in Phuket, Thailand, just for the guests of the resort I flew in to.

My feathers got a nice tan, and I was able to kick back with a cocktail and relax.

So where do you think is the best beach in the world? Perhaps it’s your favourite place to work on your tan. Or maybe you like to surf there. It might be romantic at night, or quiet in the day. Or it could just be lots of fun.

Is it the crowded beach at Bondi in the middle of the summer, or a tiny beach only you know about? Well now is time to share it with your fellow travellers, as I pose the question,

“Where is the best beach in the world? And why?”

Over to you…

For the tropical beauty – White Beach, Borocay. Philippines, but can defintiely appreciate the appeal of the Britsih windswept beach in winter.

A mention also has to go to just about any beach on the wild and rugged Stewart Island off the far Southern tip of New Zealand – truly wild and isolated. Beeutiful!

ever been to ko samet , Thailand??
i stayed in the really posh hotel on the beach resort of ,
“A PRAO” back in feb 04.
So beautiful…., the sands are white, the sea turquoise and the sun was a tadge too warm .,however the gin n tonics on the beach were an excellent choice each night as the sun set with its golden rays directly in front of us….

North shore Prince Edward Island, standing in the breakers. Great do do with the kids. The red sand is cool, too.

By far the best beach I have been to is Cable Beach in Broome Western Australia. Like most Australian beaches it is long, sandy and beautiful. Cable Beach has the added attractiions of being spacious and very peaceful as there is hardly any building developement nearby. Sunshine, wonderful surf, kangaroos who you see hopping along the rear sand dunes. One special treat is the wonderful camel train ride along the beach at sunset. Camels who have obvouisly been well fed and looked after, They have all been scrubbed up well and fitted with clean saddles etc. What more do you want?

    Ballyliffin Beach, Co. Donegal, Ireland.
A secluded ‘Blue Flag’ white sand beach at the north end of Ireland.
No kids, no sand-castles, no noise, no people… Lovely.

The best experience on the beach for me was at Camber Sands on a cold february day…tide out and on my horse galloping along the sands, jumping the puddles left by the tide and persuading the horse to have a paddle…all finished off with a whiskey mac…. pure bliss

Lusty Glaze in Newquay – it’s possibly the best name for a beach in the world, and when the sun is shining you can’t beat it…loads of surf and sand, plus caves & rockpools to explore.
Grace Bay in Turcs & Caicos has the bluest sea I’ve ever seen…good job the beach is great as there’s absolutely nothing else to do on the island!

For me, you can’t beat the English seaside in winter. Bleak and forboding, moody and atmospheric.

Every New Years Day our group of family and friends heads down to Camber Sands – rain or shine. However its usually windy, so we brace ourselves and head off for a blow on the front.

It helps to clear away the excesses from the previous weeks partying and gets the New Years resolution off to a flying start!

After a recent trip to Goa, India i would say Arrosim beach in South Goa is one of the best.

Its miles and miles of golden sand, excellent blue tropical waters and lots of luxury 5 star resorts. The watersports are good fun and its not too busy that you cannot relax and enjoy yourself.

If your after a busy beach this is not for you, but if its pure relaxation, unhindered sun and beautiful tranquil resorts then Arrossim Beach is a sure fire winner!
