Holiday Advice: Save money on your holiday with these money saving tips!

Everyone wants a holiday this year, and there is no need to stay at home if you can save money while you’re away.
So here’s my question to you:
What’s are the best money saving tips you have while you’re on holiday?
Try to make this as generic as you can! Don’t single out cheap restaurants in Spain or where to shop in Australia. What can we all do this year to save money while we’re on holiday?
I’ll kick things off with these gems…
- Book at least 2 weeks in advance to try and avoid last minute booking charges.
- Choose rooms that match your party requirements, for example you select a room that sleeps 4 people and you only have 2, you may get charged under occupancy. Even if the from price is higher you may save on under occupancy charges making the overall price cheaper.
- Be as flexible on dates as possible.
- Try pricing up all Board Basis and work out what is best value for money for you.
- Consider going in Low season. It is often quieter and can be more enjoyable.
- Overnight flights can often reduce the cost.
- Try travelling mid-week, it can often be cheaper.
- When comparing prices insure all additional cost are included.
I look forward to hearing your tips!

book swap.
lots of people take 2/3/4 books away with them to read by the pool ect. which not only are they expensive to buy, but also extra weight and clutter to carry there and back.
start ur own holiday book club by talking to other guests and swopping or wonder around local markets paying no more than a quid, look in hotel receptions or cafes you may find a book swop shelf.
ive picked up many books in the past ,that i wouldnt normaly read and have realy enjoyed enjoyed them.
a great way to discover new and old authours without costing the earth!!!

My money saving tip.
If available remove flight meals and extra luggage on your booking if you do not require them.
Research the destination you are going to and budget a daily amount to spend whilst you are away. If you have a budget to stick to you will find it easier to resist buying that second inflatable crocodile and spend it more wisely on something like Ice Cream.

I would usually buy suncream in spain as it is slighly cheaper. Also maybe if the rate of exchange is low here, i would get my spending money changed up there – to get more for my money.!!!

One thing that worries me is how far my money goes when i am out there.
Check the conversion rates and also read up on some reviews on which destinations can be the cheapest for what you want to do:
- Price of local food
- Eating out prices
- Drink prices
- Excursion prices
- Local transport or car hire prices
Alternatively i look for good value all-inclusive resorts to try and minise my expenditure when in resort.
