Myself and my husband recently went on a 3 week trip to Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong. It was a special trip for me as it was my 30th birthday whilst we were away and I was fortunate enough to win the flight tickets through my work!

Even though we decided to take our holidays in Australia during their winter months it was the best time to visit tropical north Queensland, hot, dry and only around 55-60% humidity as apposed to 95% humidity in their summer!

We first flew to Singapore where we spent 2 nights; if you enjoy shopping then you will love a holiday in Singapore. The amount of shopping malls are endless! A Singapore Sling at the Long Bar, Raffles Hotel is a must one evening whilst in Singapore.

Our next city was Sydney where we stayed in the Rocks area; if anyone is travelling to Sydney I would without doubt recommend this area for their stay. It is very close to Circular Quay and many popular attractions and during the weekend the Rocks market is on with many handmade goodies!
Whilst on holiday in Sydney, we went on two day trips, the Hunter Valley wine region and the Blue Mountains. Both were superb trips (especially the wine tasting)!
Somewhere quite different to eat in Sydney is Phillips Foote which is in the ‘Rocks’. You choose which meat you would like and then cook it on the BBQ yourself whilst enjoying a chilled beer or a glass of red in my case…

After exploring the many sights Sydney has to offer we flew up to Cairns in tropical north Queensland and then by road to Port Douglas where we spent the next 10 days. We chose to stay in an apartment as we were there for a while, our apartment was plenty big enough and we even had a private Jacuzzi on our balcony which was most appreciated.

Whilst in the area we went out to the Great Barrier Reef, I would recommend if you are planning on a day trip to do an outer reef cruise rather than the low isles as the quality of the reefs are better. A visit to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation is a must, where the rainforest meets the ocean! Try and spot the famous cassowary (the rarest bird in Australia), and you are certain to see crocs during the day!
If you are looking to do something special then I would recommend sunrise hot air ballooning over a town called Mareeba (approx one hour drive inland from Port Douglas). It is truly one of the most amazing things I have been lucky enough to experience.

The final stop during our trip took us to Hong Kong which brought back wonderful memories as we spent our honeymoon there a few years ago. There is so much to do whilst on holiday in Hong Kong I would recommend anyone travelling there should stay for around 4 nights. Do not leave Hong Kong without a visit to:

- Giant Buddha, Lantau
- Victoria Peak, Hong Kong Island
- Hong Kong Park, Hong Kong Island
- Ladies Market, Kowloon
- The Island Of Maccau
- Aberdeen’s Floating Community
- Stanley Market
- TOTTS Bar & Restaurant (Excelsior Hotel)

In addition if you are in Hong Kong at the right time why not have an evening at the races, a great night out!

Overall our 3 week trip was amazing, we did not regret any of the hotels/apartments we stayed in nor any of the tours we went on, and I would certainly recommend these destinations to others.
